Keeping the Grinch Out of
Your Store

By Becky Boswell Smith

In case you’ve been under a rock for the past several weeks, let me tell you the news: it’s going to be a tough holiday season, made tougher by the ongoing turmoil in the financial markets and the terror all of that is evoking in the consumers’ minds.

Coupons Make the Cut
By Carol L. Schroeder

Coupons may not be appropriate for some upscale stores, however for those who do use them, they offer a rarity in advertising – the chance to find out if a promotion is really working. Employee Spotlight

Mollie M. Jackson
Accounts Payable Coordinator

Mollie says she loves the feeling of accomplishment her job provides, as well as the people she works with and the variety of duties within the job. Her job requires her to audit and process domestic payables, freight charges, commissions and expenses and she says she’s never bored or stuck in a rut. In her previous job at IMAX she processed credit memos, reconciled open orders for reps and, early on, attended shows. She’s been with IMAX for 4 ½ years.

She and her husband, Bradford L. Coates, share the same birthday, May 27, but she’s not telling the year. She has three children (Melinda, 20, Michael, 18, and Mitchell, 14) and an 8-month-old granddaughter, Meghan Renae Penrod.

Her pets are a dog named Buddy, a ferret named Tito and a hamster named Leroy.

Mollie’s hobbies have been put on hold for awhile as she has just begun an MBA program. She is active in her church and attends her children’s events. She loves all genres of music, but her favorite is Lynyrd Skynyrd. She plays piano and clarinet and sings in the church choir. And she’s a big CSI fan.

She’s a true dyed-in-the-wool Okie from Muskogee, she says.
