IMAX and Its Retailers are Reaching OutBy Becky Boswell Smith I came across this observation from sales and marketing guru Tony Robbins the other day: “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.” Boy, is he right. And many retailers in this country, especially independents, have taken that advice to heart as they weathered a challenging 2010. Whether it’s participating in efforts like the 3/50 Buy Local campaigns, developing better web sites or using the popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, retailers are reaching out to customers. Events for Slower Seasons By Carol L. Schroeder Q: Every November we hold a holiday open house for our best customers. But we don't have anything planned for January. Price vs. ValueBy Randy Eller As we began the new year, I found myself thinking back on all the conversations I've had last year with manufacturers and retailers about the things that caused them the most lost sleep. Employee SpotlightTatiana Rozzell Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Purchasing Tatiana coordinates sales and purchasing for major retailers and other global customers, making certain her boss has all the data and reports he needs and handling receiving and invoicing. In her five years with IMAX, Tatiana also has been an assistant buyer. Tatiana is proud of her Russian heritage, having been born in Podolsk, in the Moscow region of Russia. Podolsk has an important history, dating back to the 12th century. She is married to husband Craig, who she says has a great deal of patience. They have two children, Ilana, 6, and Alex, 4. Because of daughter Ilana’s allergies, all their pets are kept outside. She lists them as three cats that adopted the family at different times, a possum that found a “shelter” under the shed; and a squirrel that lives in a backyard tree and enjoys teasing the cats on bright sunny days. Tatiana enjoys ice skating with her children on Saturdays, blogging whenever she has time and doing hand embroidery after high-stress days. Tatiana says the best part of her job is the group of people in her department, who make it fun to work or make fun out of work. They keep her cheered up. “In other words, I am glad IMAX happened to me,” she said. |
